Called a 'bioethicist to the masses' because of his pre-eminence in the media and his outspoken stances on medical ethics, health policy and ethical issues in science and technology, he is the Director of the fledgling Center for Bioethics at the University of Pennsylvania and the author of countless books and articles on the ethical challenges that accompany recent developments in medical technology.
