William E. Strickland, Jr. helps at risk teenagers discover their
will to live and learn by teaching them the arts. Executive
director of the Manchester Craftmen's Guild and the Bidwell
Training Center, his creation of vocation training programs and
arts education programs in Pittsburgh represent some of the most
important inner-city work in the country. He is a council member of
the National Endowment of the Arts (NEA) and chairman of the
Expansion Arts Panel of the NEA.
