Who hasn't heard of the endorphin-driven runner's high, or traced a pang of lover's jealousy to their reptilian brain? On Star Trek Voyager, a medical man of the future waves his magic wand over a crew mate emerging from a trance and declares, "His neuropeptides have returned to normal!"
