Jan Culik, professor of Czechoslovak Studies and commentator on Czech affairs discusses how the disillusionment of the Czech people has affected the latest round of anti-globalization protests in Prague and the future relations of the Czech Republic with Western Europe in an interview originally appearing in the Brazilian newspaper Folha De Sao Paolo. Contrasting American and European protesters with those concerned with globalization in the Czech Republic, Culik finds that 'unlike, say, people in the United States, Great Britain or France, people in the Czech Republic feel quite acutely that they are or soon could become just passive 'victims' of international capitalism.
