Taking a cue from America’s ubiquitous voluntary highway cleanup program, the United Nations and a coalition of peace and human rights groups have formed a grassroots program to support landmine disarming efforts worldwide. More than $2.5 million has already been raised to "adopt" 60 minefields, according to the alternative news service
