For a creative twist on the outdoor odyssey genre, check out
www.trailstories.com. The site is the virtual
campfire of hiker and author Tim 'Paddler' Hewitt, who invites
other 'thru-hikers' (hikers who walk the trail's entire length from
Georgia to Maine) to sit for a spell and share their adventures.
Ultimately, Hewitt hopes to publish a series of books 'containing
the experiences of hikers on the AT -- both section hikers and thru
hikers -- that will capture the imagination of future generations
of outdoor enthusiasts; who ultimately will be responsible to see
that our natural resources -- like the Appalachian Trail -- are
preserved for generations to come.'
