Cultural Studies scholars writing about the homoeroticism of
Batman and Robin (and there are a number) are encountering a
daunting obstacle: DC Comics won’t let them reprint any art. As
Jeet Heer reports in Lingua Franca (March 2001), the
publisher has steadfastly rejected requests to use illustrations of
the Caped Crusaders if the topic veers toward their sexual
preference.
