Health, disease, sickness, ailing--these are just a few of the
words we constantly throw about to describe our state of being. But
what do these words really define and just what causes us to feel
that way? In Wendy Beall's new book,
Changing Your Mind for
Health: A Guide to Healing the Mind, she argues that all
our physical ailments are really just the tangible manifestations
of our troubled minds. While this concept may fly in the face of
most conventional medicine and healing, Beall cites many examples
where her beliefs seem to have some merit. While curing yourself
simply by reworking your thought processes may sound easy, the
author is careful to point out that it is not, and outlines a
program to make this concept work for you. In a culture obsessed
with disease and its cure and prevention, a different approach to
the standard is always welcome.
