The Cheque Republic (www.thechequerepublic.com), according to co-founder Kathryn Weinstein, aims to "circulate critiques of money/economic forces with a form of money as the medium." The checks come labeled with messages such as "Wage Slave" and "Warning: Economics Has Made Me Selfish." The culture-jamming initiative is already making its mark, if early response from the business press is any indication. Forbes magazine called the checks the work of "Marxist pigs."
