Web site review by Julie Madsen, hprob.com
The Chicago-based Hyde Park Review of Books, a quarterly chronicle of book culture, aims to make up for the lagging and diminishing book review sections in newspapers and magazines--and it looks to be compensating quite well. Its vast array of reviews from small, medium, independent, and University presses (with a few from the larger publishers thrown in) covers some of the best up-and-coming fiction and nonfiction, and offers a forum for discussion with each review. Its "features" section has added bonuses such as essays and interviews with authors and other movers and shakers in the literary world. Contrary to what mainstream media's tiny book sections may infer, the Hyde Park Review is proof that literary culture is alive and thriving.
