British poet Ian McMillan in February became what is believed to be the first poet-in-residence at a police station anywhere in the world, when the Humberside Police Department in England contracted for his services. The 46-year-old poet, hired to create interest in police work, observed the Humberside bobbies for 10 days in February and March and produced a body of poetry about his experience. Constables will not be expected to do any rhyming themselves.
