Spokesman (May 4, 2002), some 80 percent of
Jerry Rosman's sows were unable to conceive after being fed a diet
of genetically engineered Bt corn; similar cases have been reported
by other farmers in his county. Rosman changed the sows' diet and
the problem vanished. 'If I had been the only one, I'd say it's a
fluke, but here we've got four others who experienced the same
signs, symptoms, and outcome,' Rosman says, 'and I don't think
there's just five of us out here.'
