Review
Toulouse-Lautrec once asked a friend, 'Do you know what it is like
to be haunted by colors?' Rachel Cohen, writing in
Threepenny
Review, seems to have become haunted by Toulouse-Lautrec's
painting The Sofa. 'On Friday nights I go to the Metropolitan
Museum. . . . I'm drawn to it, and it makes me anxious, and I've
been trying to figure out why.' In her exploration of the painting,
she talks its lines, its sex, its colors, and how she cannot resist
it.
