Arts Extra Special

Ingenious Cuban book artists create art you can readUSING A
TYPEWRITER, an ancient mimeograph machine, and ingenious
craftsmanship, the Cuban publishing collective Ediciones Vig?a
creates some of the world's most beautiful books. Shortages of
paper and other basic goods force the 14-member collective to use
scrap paper, leaves, yarn, and other found supplies. As a result,
their limited-edition, hand-decorated books for both children and
adults have a delicate authenticity that can't be achieved with
high-tech printing processes. The Kresge Art Museum at Michigan
State University in East Lansing collects the books and has
produced an exhibition
