Parting Words for Hilary Rosen

In a recent article on Shift.com, the Web site of Canadian digital culture zine Shift, online editor Mark Moyes lays out a stinted top 10 list (the list only contains nine items) on why he loves Hilary Rosen, soon to depart from her position as chairman and CEO of the Recording Industry Association of America. From that post, Rosen has directed the industry’s legal assaults on file-sharing services like Napster, KaZaa, Morpheus, and Gnutella. Moyes’ tongue-in-cheek ribbing makes it clear that he is closer to hating than to loving her. He does mention that Rosen looks like the secretary in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off (reason #3), providing readers with at least one solid positive vibe. But no one could accuse Moyes of over-the-top veneration. His reasoning for giving nine items instead of ten: “Well, hey, we don’t love you that much.”
