Thich Nhat Hanh wrote, ?If in our daily life we can smile, if we
can be peaceful and happy, not only we, but everyone will profit
from it. This is the most basic kind of peace work.? To that end,
the Baghdad Snapshot Action Crew has provided one of the most
effective peace protest tools we?ve seen yet: the faces of playful
Iraqi citizens, as captured by Iraq Peace Team member and
photographer Paul Chan. ?This moved him because laughing under the
weight of UN sanctions and the threat of an absurd war is no easy
task,? writes a National Philistine Web editor. ?We were
moved because the people in these pictures remind us of our friends
and family.? All of the photos on the site are available as
downloadable PDF documents, in both color and black and
white.
