The Sufi poet Hafiz wrote, “Clever men place the world into cages, but the wise woman who must duck under the moon throws keys to the rowdy prisoners.” Let’s throw keys to the rowdy prisoners. Sustainability is about freedom from tyranny, from empire, from corporate rule, the freedom to honor life. Let’s create, in Janine Benyus’ memorable phrase, “a world conducive to life.”
