In Britain, ships will no longer be referred to as feminine,
reports ETC: A Review of General Semantics (Spring
2003). Lloyd's List, the leading shipping industry paper
in London, has decided to forgo 'she' for the gender-neutral 'it,'
deciding it was high time 'to catch up with the rest of the world
and most other news organizations.'
