An obscure resolution currently making its way through the U.S. Senate could open the doors for a presidential run by California's Governer-Elect Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Utah Senator Orrin Hatch in July introduced a bill that would allow anyone who has lived in the United States for 20 years to be eligible to hold the office of the president. The Constitution currently prohibits anyone who is not a 'native-born citizen' from holding that office.

The bill, which would amend the Constitution, must be ratified by three-fourths of the state legislatures before becoming law. It was referred to the Senate Judiciary Committee, of which Hatch is chairman.

Schwarzenegger, whose victory in Tuesday's California recall election makes him an attractive presidential possibility, has lived in the U.S. since 1968.
