Tracey Rose
Multimedia artist (South Africa)
Utne Reader September / October 2007
Rose is a mixed-race feminist who uses identity and sexual politics as incendiary devices, waging war on her fellow South Africans' sensibilities with almost narrativeless performances, films, and artworks. Her work is a car crash of popular culture and extreme sociology -- wild even against a backdrop of the extremes of her hometown, Johannesburg.
