He is the editor and publisher of the progressive Tikkun Magazine, which is known for its issue-oriented ethical and spiritual treatment of liberal politics and its unwavering support of the Israeli peace movement. Recent books include Jewish Renewal: A Path to Healing and Transformation, which reinterprets Jewish history and destiny from ancient Roman times to the Israeli-Palestinian peace accords, and Blacks and Jews, written with Cornel West, to be published in 1995.
