    Congratulations, Jay! Now that you have been named Editor of
    Utne Reader, will you reverse that terrible policy made in 2004 to
    accept tobacco ads in Utne Reader? Accepting any tobacco ads
    degrades this otherwise fine magazine. As for Santa Fe Tobacco
    Company - whether or not it is "indepedendent" or their tobacco
    "organic" is secondary to the fact that its products are toxic when
    used as directed, and one cigarette is 100% worse than none at all.
    Please don't let Santa Fe or any other tobacco company use Utne
    Reader as a conduit for their aggressive marketing to the
    Progressive/Alternative community, thus serving their ultimate
    goal, which is to market and sell products that are harmful and
    addictive when used as directed.
