Chimpanzee TypingThe collaborative fiction website One Million Monkeys Typing satisfies every picky reader’s urge to stop in the middle a story, grab a pen, and have a go at the damn thing yourself. Each story starts with a central trunk, to which writers can then "graft" story-parts. (There are a lot of tree metaphors on the site.) The resulting collaborative fiction is an innovative mix of crowd-sourcing and choose your own adventure. Participating merges the great thing about writers' workshops—being able to critique other people’s writing—with the ability to cut off boring writers and make the stories go wherever you want. It’s genuinely fun, too.

This is an absolutely flattering write-up. Thank you for sharing our site with your readers. One Million Monkeys Typing has been a pet project my boyfriend and I started as something fun we could do as a couple. Unfortunately we are only able to work on the site after our paying work is done, and so we long to keep adding new features. Please forgive us for not having done updates to the site in awhile—just 6 days ago we had a baby boy! Hope that our site can be an interesting diversion for interested writers. Thank you again. -Nina Zito, Monkey #2 http://www.1000000monkeys.com
