Before landing in Minneapolis, Utne Reader’s editorial assistant, Elizabeth Ryan, grew up in the sticks of Wisconsin and headed off to the University of Missouri-Columbia to get her bachelor’s degree in journalism. During college she was a reporter for the Columbia Missourian, an editor at Vox magazine, and interned at Real Homes Magazine in London, England, for a semester. Formerly the Research Editor at Utne, she is happy to be relieved of her fact-checking duties in favor of (a little) more sleep, but she’s still suffering from the lingering inability to believe anything she reads or hears without investigating it first.
