Jason Ericson holds a B.A. in English and political science from the University of California-Berkeley, where he was awarded the H.W. Hill Prize by the English Department. He resides in Minneapolis, where he enjoys biking the city’s awe-inspiring Greenway, taking picture-portraits, and writing sinister short stories.
Lisa Gulya studied English, Russian, and women’s studies at St. Olaf College in Minnesota, where she also interned at Minnesota Monthly. A native of North Dakota, Lisa recently returned from Moscow and St. Petersburg, where she helped supervise a course on Russian theater and found the famed “Russian winter” similar to the lesser-known “Midwestern winter.”
Erik Helin is a junior in his final semester at the University of Minnesota. For his magazine practicum he was serendipitously stationed with the wonderful people at Utne Reader. He's a Sagittarius.
Sarah Pumroy graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2007 with a degree in journalism and mass communication. After graduation, she interned at the Progressive magazine in Madison. She lives in St. Paul.
Michael Rowe was born in Pittsburgh and then raised in Edmonton, Toronto, and Scranton, Pennsylvania. After graduating from Haverford College outside Philadelphia, he moved to Minneapolis with his girlfriend, Annie, in 2005.
Steve Thorngate grew up in Wisconsin, attended Wheaton College in Illinois, and earned a masters in English from Loyola University in Chicago. He’s been an editor at an education trade magazine and an intern at Sojourners magazine. He also blogs on religion and culture at stevethorngate.blogspot.com.
Morgan Winters graduated from the University of Minnesota. He enjoys writing about media, food, and uncomfortable social situations—but never a combination of the three. With confidence and authority, Morgan does his best to convince his two children to listen to him. He rarely succeeds.
