Lyme Disease: A Hidden Epidemic?
Craig Cox
Lyme disease may be more common than we thought, suggests an
article in Alternative Medicine (May 2001), and it may be
a cause or contributing factor in chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia,
and other debilitating conditions. Some doctors and health
researchers believe Lyme is spread by fleas, mosquitoes, mites, and
human-to-human contact—as well as deer ticks—and that many
sufferers never exhibit the bull’s-eye rash associated with the
disease. Antibiotic treatment—far more extensive than prescribed
for most infectious conditions—is still the only known cure.
