An important reason in the changing nature of public opinion toward real estate is the volatility and fluctuating volume of the industry itself Real estate is a game played primarily with borrowed money, and it is relatively easy for a great segment of the population to participate. Especially when times are good and real estate prices are rapidly increasing, huge numbers of people get involved in buying, selling, leasing, building, renovating, and additional aspects of property investment and development. These new entrepreneurs can rapidly become an obstacle to any kind of meaningful reform or regulation. Many of them are small-scale operators who have only recently succeeded below the existing policies and fear that proposed changes might be economically detrimental to them. ------------ Henry Pollick real estate
