Made in Brazil with sustainable natural rainforest rubber, this unique backpack is an eco-friendly alternative to leather. Our eco-friendly backpack is manufactured from Treetap®, a product that comes from rubber trees in the Amazon. Indigenous tree tappers "milk" these wild plants in the jungle for their sap. The sap from these Hevea brasiliensis is natural latex and after being sustain ably harvested (trees are rotated every two years) it is filtered and layered onto cotton backing. This is smoke cured, half a dozen times or so, and sun dried to vulcanize or "set" the latex.

By producing Treetap® using traditional, low-impact practices, the communities improve their quality of life without degrading their environment. Plant tappers earn fair-wages, and the forested regions in which the plants grow are undergoing Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certification.
