Though Heath Ledger’s most recent flick subscribes to a Hollywood
ethos complete with peasant turned superstar, it still manages to
garner good reviews from a couple alternative news sources. In an
interview for the free New York weekly Blue Dog
Press,
film critic Michael Calleri interviews Ledger and
writer/ director Brian Helgeland (they met in an airport where the
Australian-born Ledger entertained Heldeland with his diggeridoo)
and praises the film for its ‘audacious blend of culture and
music.’ And FilmThreat.com was similarly smitten:
‘They [the actors] manage to keep the storybook roles they are
portraying believable in the fantasy-like setting ‘A Knight’s Tale’
creates.’
