A coalition of publishers and environmentalists wants to green the magazine industry. The Paper Project, a joint creation of Co-op America, Conservatree, and the Independent Press Association, encourages small and large publishers to shift to recycled paper. The three-year-old project offers a paper-buying cooperative for small publishers, which ordinarily wouldn't have enough buying power themselves to afford the higher-priced recycled paper, and pressures large publishers, like Condé Nast, to make the switch on their own.
