The Ohio House of Representatives March 13 ratified the
Fourteenth Amendment to the Constitution, reports the
Cleveland Plain Dealer. The move, on a 94-1 vote,
signals that Ohio now officially embraces the end of slavery.
Though Cincinnati Republican Tom Brinkman Jr. was the lone
dissenting vote, the debate featured several Republicans speaking
against ratification, arguing that the amendment violates states?
rights.
