The new book Weapons of Mass Deception (Jeremy Tarcher) made Amazon.com's Top 100 Bestsellers list right after it was published, and the authors report that they have been interviewed by dozens of foreign journalists. Yet major media outlets in the U.S. have chosen to ignore it. The reason? Despite headlines about continuing casualties and combat in Iraq, John Stauber and Sheldon Rampton report that newspapers and television and radio networks in America tell them that their book -- which chronicles how U.S. journalists helped the Bush administration win support for the war in Iraq and other media embarrassments -- is 'not topical.'
