Ritchie is GATT’s and NAFTA’s worst nightmare. Emphasizing fair trade over free trade, Ritchie has tirelessly organized farmers, laborers, environmentalists, and consumers around the world to question the impact of international trade agreements. The president of the Institute for Agriculture and Trade Policy, a nonprofit and nonpartisan research organization, he has spent the past 20 years working on the economic, social, and environmental issues facing family farms and small towns worldwide.
