Psychopaths are Everywhere!

Axe MotherIf you want to experience the chill of meeting a psychopath’s icy gaze, just start making more eye contact. An article in Damn Interesting reports that roughly one out of every 100 men (and one in every 300 women) meets the clinical criteria needed to be classified as psychopathic. The writer acknowledges the tenuous science behind diagnoses of psychopathic tendencies, but points out that, at least according to the most widely used psychological testing methods, psychopaths are often indistinguishable from law-abiding “normal” people.

Makes you wonder about everyone you have ever been around. It may explain a lot of the horrible or just crappy things that people in your life have done. I think it important for people to know about this because it may help people understand and take precautions against people.

If you include sociopaths, who are similar in having no conscience but less prone to violence, the estimates go up to as high as 3% of the US population, according to some authorities. As a former cop and addiction counselor now in the security business, I can attest to that. The book "The Sociopath Next Door" is a good place to start learning how to protect yourself from these human predators.

It's true. I blog on narcissism, psychopaths and exorcism. The garden variety psychopath is ANYONE-- the key is to judge people by what they DO, not what they say. They can be charming, bright and attractive. Their evil side is usually cloaked and only shown to those who are under their conreol- family, co-workers, children. And they do not feel any empathy at all.
