This peppy, thought-provoking documentary about urban design explores the fabric of metropolitan living, taking examples ranging from the good (Copenhagen, Bogotá) and the bad (Mumbai, Beijing) to the poor (Detroit, Santiago) and the rich (New York, Stuttgart). Directed by Gary Hustwit, whose previous films focused on graphic and industrial design (Helvetica, Objectified), Urbanized is a beautifully photographed meditation on public spaces, as well as an informative look at the way designers are employing innovative ideas to change cities in the 21st century.
