A new study reports that drinking at least three cups of coffee a day may reduce your chances of developing Alzheimer’s, notes The Week (July 26, 2002). Research conducted by scientists at the Faculty of Medicine in Lisbon, Portugal, found that people drinking three to four cups of coffee a day from the age of 25 reduced their risk of dementia by as much as 60 percent. Researchers suspect that the caffeine in coffee may protect the brain.
