One-Stop Shopping for Global Peace Activism, Web site review by Rebecca McGee, Peace.Protest.net
Maybe you’re already involved in the ever-expanding movement for peace. Maybe you want to be. Or maybe you just want to learn more about what’s out there. If any of the above apply to you, then the Web site peace.protest.net is worth a visit. The site was set up in the aftermath of the September 11 attacks by the award-winning “protest portal” Protest.net to provide citizens of the world with a central listing of protests, meetings, benefits and conferences. You can search for activities by region and date and submit information on activities you may know about. Included are petitions to view, links to anti-war news sites (such as Z Magazine), 911 Peace Coalitions, and links to other sites involved with the movement for peace. Also of interest are posters available to be down-loaded and links to sites concerned with civil liberties. It can be easy to feel isolated, overwhelmed, or at a loss as to where to start. A visit to this site is a quick and simple way to lift the spirits of new and veteran activists everywhere.
