Readers Write: The Kitchen Table,The
Sun
The Sun’s current ‘Readers Write’ forum recognizes
the symbolism of the kitchen table–a place that can be grounds for
conversations, solitary morning meditations with coffee and
newspaper, family discussions; a place where stories are told or
silence is observed, children are nurtured or neglected, where
learned prayers are recited over meals or new prayers surface from
deep thought. The collection of essays describes each writer’s
defining kitchen table experience and what they learned from it,
from being the site of failed marriage and family secrets to fond
memories of past friends.
