?The President considers this nation to be at war,? a White
House insider tells Doug Thompson of Capitol Hill Blue,
?and, as such, considers any opposition to his policies to be no
less than an act of treason.? President Bush can now add the Joint
Chiefs of Staff and Secretary of State Colin Powell to his
distinguished list of ?traitors.?
The Joint Chiefs of Staff recently urged the president to let
the U.N. finish its inspections and build a stronger Middle East
coalition before invading Iraq. Their recommendation infuriated
both the president and Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld, who
reportedly told them to ?get in line or find other jobs.? Colin
Powell has also advised the president that he is pursuing a
?dangerous course.?
Bush?s dissenting cabinet members are wise to advocate caution,
as Arab nations have told U.S. diplomats they may side with Iraq if
the US attacks without United Nations support.
