Online NewsHour, suggests we may be. Using actual
quotes and commentary from leading television news anchors, Smith
argues that our ‘warp speed’ society is gradually paring down even
our language. As Fox News Channel anchor Shepard Smith puts it,
‘We’re telling more stories in our hour than any national newscast
in the history of this business, I think. We’re darn close to it if
we’re not, and sometimes verbs just get in the way.’
