US Tax Dollars: The New MIA

Pvt. Lynch has made it home safely and her memories have been
accounted for, yet our tax dollars remain Missing In Action.
According to the ingenious website CostOfWar.com, which
displays a running total with an animated ticker, the price tag on
Iraq is currently in the tens of billions, and mounting by the
second. This site uses calculations based on estimates from the
Congressional Budget Office to compare the cost of the war to the
costs of pre-school, public education, college scholarships, energy
independence and public housing — both in local communities and
nationwide. Watch as money that could feed and shelter millions of
homeless children, provide healthcare for senior citizens, and
repair our failing system of public education gets sucked into the
miasma of ‘defense spending,’ and try not to be sickened and
outraged. I dare you.
