Beebe is the founding chairman and president of Ecotrust, a controversial environmental organization that has found a way to save both spotted owls and jobs. Beebe has developed more than 30 conservation organizations from Alaska to Bolivia, pioneering innovative new forest conservation strategies such as debt-for-nature swaps in developing tropical rainforest countries and environmental banking in the Pacific Northwest.
