The spiritual successor to Joseph Campbell, Halifax is an author and anthropologist whose rich background in Buddhist practiceas a dharmacarya in the Tiep Hien order of Thich Nhat Hanhplays a central role in her books, The Human Encounter with Death (with Stanislav Grof), Shamanic Voices, Shaman: The Wounded Healer, and The Fruitful Darkness. She is the founder of The Ojai Foundation, an educational center in Ojai, California, and Upaya, a Buddhist study center in Santa Fe.
