Joanna R. Macy

A teacher, writer, speaker, social activist, and scholar of Buddhism and general systems theory, Macy is known worldwide for her Council of All Beings rituals connecting social action with spiritual breakthrough. She is the author of Dharma and Development, about her years with the Sarvodaya Movement in Sri Lanka, World as Lover, World as Self, which contains some of her more recent group methods, and Despair and Personal Power in the Nuclear Age. She is adjunct professor at the California Institute for Integral Studies and the Graduate Theological Union.
