When Rapunzel let down her golden hair for the prince to climb up, the fairy tale may have left out some important caveats of physics. Chris Gorski of the American Institute of Physics investigates the science behind Rapunzel’s story finding that her hair has more than enough tensile strength to support the weight of a prince. However, she probably should have tied her hair around an anchor, rather than using her scalp to pull him up.
