"Making It" by Stew and the Negro Problem (Tight Natural Productions)

Stew and Heidi Rodewald, the collaborative force behind Stew and the Negro Problem, are dedicated to their music making with a rare passion. After all, they recorded Making It after breaking up as a couple and navigating the currents of theatrical success with Stew’s hit musical-turned-movie, Passing Strange.

The album is a soul-pop-folk stunner with a wide musical and emotional range, from the title track’s organ workout to the ridiculously comic “Black Men Ski” to the matter-of-factly heartbroken “Curse.”
