In this UtneCast exclusive, Leif Utne interviews John Brady Kiesling, the former diplomat who resigned in protest 4 years ago during the run-up to the war. In his article ”Why Don’t We Talk Anymore?” in the March/April Utne Reader, Kiesling explains how the Bush administration abandoned America’s diplomatic tradition, and how we can regain the world’s respect. This special UtneCast interview was too long, and too good, to fit into our regular format. In order to bring you the full conversation, this episode runs a bit longer than normal, about 25 minutes. And as usual, our reviewer Keith Goetzman follows up with a musical tip. This time it’s the new album by political punk-popsters Ted Leo and the Pharmacists.
